I am giving this a 4-star review because I ordered them in the turquoise color and they were GILDAN brand (tag and everything)..... which I'm aware GILDAN bought out American Apparel last year, but was hoping I'd be getting the leftover original American Apparel stock.... and ultimately, I DID! ....but not in the turquoise. It was in the navy that I had also ordered. There are some slight differences between the two. The AA ones feel a bit softer, but they're both quality cotton. Also, the turquoise to me is just bright blue... I think of turquoise as having a green tint or being more of a light teal, which these are not. It's still a beautiful color though.It may be partially my fault for forgetting that American apparel has always run small but these are way too small and tight. They’re basically like underwear rather than shorts but I find them uncomfortable so I’m not going to be sleeping in them. The elastic band at waist really digs in. Overall I don’t think the quality is bad but they’re not really good for working out in unless you have really narrow hips and a small butt because it rides up a lot.. I would never wear these outdoors. For reference I bought a size small and I had 36 inch hips and a 25 inch waist when I tried these on and I think the size small would probably work better for someone with 33-34 inch hipsI was worried about getting this in white in case it was see through, but it is a really nice thick material and not see through at all in white. I am 5'3/120lb and ordered this in a small. I could have probably gotten the x-small as the small is a bit big & I tried shrinking it a bit in the dryer as it's loose around my thighs but the material is so solid it did not shrink at all. Great product!I did enjoy these shorts. I sized up after the reviews and was very grateful I did. Even then, they were a tad tighter than I was hoping for. They are more high waisted and the waist is elastic and is snug on you.I'm 5'8" with an athletic build. They did cover my entire butt though.I am 5'7" and weigh 111lbs. I originally measured myself and purchased a small which fits, but it's skin tight and automatic camel toe just wearing at my normal hip height, not even high waisted.I ended up returning and ordering a medium instead and it's STILL pretty skin tight and at that fine line of hugging the area without camel toe if I wear it at my natural hip. If I pull these up to be more high waisted, it's definite camel toe.:( I'm too lazy to return these ones and at least it's wearable now, but I'll be ordering a XL to see if I can get the high waisted look.I have no clue how other people are wearing this high waisted and not feeling uncomfortable with it cutting into their vag.Definitely go 2 sizes larger. This is also Gildan produced AA.I would definitely recommend buying from here though if you are interested, as it is cheaper!If you are going for the Riverdale Cheerleader look for a cosplay or costume, these in Navy are the screen accurate look. They are well made, they fit well, are true to size, and can even be slid up a bit if you wish to expose a little booty. Just in case you want to drive Archie and the boys crazy. My girlfriend loves these and they made her cosplay look spot on.Great product especially for the price. I bought the same shorts in red and looking forward to ordering the other colors. I am normally an XS which I ordered in the red, but the blue guy perfect (SM)It fits perfect got a size medium when I usually always wear a medium in shorts. Still a little room and I love it!I have a small frame, so I ordered a S in these shorts hoping they would be booty hugging. I could probably size down even further to an XS but the size I ordered still works very well for comfort and modesty. I would say order your size as described or order a size down if you want them a little tighter.Loved these AA shorts.
